Artificial Insemination Packages for 2009
(The following packages are restricted to mares seen at Stud, Upton Pyne Equestrian Centre, Northcombe Stud or at the home stable where suitable safe restraint is available).
Veterinary Costs
| Chilled and fresh semen | £195 per cycle + VAT |
| Frozen semen | £265 per cycle + VAT |
The package fee covers procedures performed within an oestrus cycle (in season). This fee includes an initial cervical smear and endometrial swab, semen insemination, temporary caslick (if required), the cost of routine drugs*, and routine ultrasound scans up to and including the first pregnancy scan at 14 days after ovulation.
It does not include visit fees, any investigation or treatment of a problem breeding mare**, laboratory fees, multiple pregnancy reduction, sedation, semen collection or specialised consumables. If applicable these fees will be invoiced separately.
Stud fee and boarding fee are not included in these packages.
It is recommended that a mare receives a pre-breeding assessment before commencing an insemination package. Details of this assessment are available on request.
* Routine drugs include prostaglandin (eg. estrumate, prosolvin), and oxytocin. All other drugs such as ovulation induction agents (eg.Chorulon, Ovuplant), regumate, antibiotics, sterile fluids are not included.
** A problem mare is defined as one which, in the opinion of Wildman Equine Veterinary Practice, has a disorder likely to cause reduced fertility. If a mare is suspected to be a problem breeder the owner will be contacted to discuss the steps required to improve fertility as well as likely cost. Extra costs not covered by the package fee will be invoiced separately under our seven days terms.
