A particular area of expertise within Wildman Equine is the investigation, diagnosis, management and treatment of equine lameness no matter the discipline of your horse or pony.
Stephen Wildman has over twenty years experience in the investigation and management of lameness. Lameness is the single largest limiting factor to the use of your horse or pony. We see our role as giving advice to prevent lameness, to diagnose the cause of lameness, and then return the horse or pony to the use it is intended as soon as is practicable. Many horses are rested for lameness without a diagnosis. This often results in return of lameness upon return to work and therefore wasting valuable time.
Regional anaesthesia of the affected limb is used to eliminate the guess work of ‘where does it hurt’. Wildman Equine has digital radiography and digital ultrasound to image areas of concern. Digital radiography provides a better, reliable image and rapid processing compared to conventional radiography. The digital radiography at Wildman Equine is fully portable enabling radiographs to be taken and processed ‘stable side’ where necessary. All images, both radiograph and ultrasound, are stored with the clinical history of the horse for rapid recall making effective follow up.
